[July 15,2020]-[London,UK], Following on from the successful partnership last year when AIDrivers used RoboSense 3D LiDAR sensors to automate horizontal transportation with autonomous trucks at seaports, AiDrivers is now incorporating 3D LiDAR technology to automate vertical transportation with autonomous cranes by successfully retrofitting to Yagertec cranes. This new diversification demonstrates the potential and adaptability of the RoboSense sensor in solving a multitude of mobility issues.
Cranes sit at the heart of many industrial processes but their use, however, brings lots of additional safety, efficiency, and productivity problems. AIDrivers is combining RoboSense’s 3D LiDAR sensors and AIDrivers' artificial intelligence in sensors fusion into these vital pieces of machinery to deliver higher levels of safety, improve productivity and drive efficiencies higher.
AIDrivers and RoboSense are committed to delivering 3D sensing and AI-enabled autonomous technology into horizontal mobility automation in ports and it was a natural progression to take the partnership into other industrial transportation areas. The Yagertec cranes use Robosense smart LiDAR sensor system solution including 3D LiDAR sensors and AI perception algorithms to solve omni-directional anti-sway issues. RoboSense smart LiDAR sensor systems that transform conventional sensors into full data analysis and comprehension systems enable AIDrivers’ intelligent processing for the Yagertec cranes. AIDrivers uses RoboSense LiDAR to collect 3D rich environment data, conduct real-time object detection, and tracking with provisions, giving an exceptionally high level of 3D mapping and accuracy needed for crane operations.
Dr. Rafiq Swash, the founder and CEO of AIDrivers, said, “3D sensing is the core for autonomous operations that provide the true 3D sense of environment required for AI-enabled autonomous algorithms. As a result, it is vital for AIdrivers and RoboSense to work closely to deliver enabling technology that meets industrial needs.”
At the start of the partnership, RoboSense co-founder and COO Mark Qiu commented, “through in-depth cooperation with Aidrivers, RoboSense will continue to explore and understand the needs of industrial automation, and we will together with our partners, optimize and launch more practical LiDAR perception systems from the application perspective.”
AIDrvers and RoboSense are reshaping industrial mobility automation by combining their expertise to solve many mobility and sensing issues found globally. This collaboration started with autonomous trailer trucks and has extended into verticle transportation cranes. Diversification into new industrial transportation areas is possible in due course.
